In this program, the ecstatic crescendo of James Tenney's Having Never Written a Note for Percussion* for solo tam-tam functions as an overture to the spellbinding atmosphere of Sciarrino's quasi opera. This program sound-paints the colors of the sky at sunset with an extensive but focused immersion in the sound properties of the instrumental medium.
