MUYASSAR KURDI

Muyassar Kurdi (b. 1989 in Chicago) is a New York City-based interdisciplinary artist. Her work encompasses sound art, extended vocal technique, performance art, movement, analog photography and film. She has toured extensively in the U.S. and throughout Europe. She currently focuses her attention to interweaving homemade electronic instruments into her vocal and dance performances, stirring a plethora of emotions from her audience members through vicious noise, ritualistic chants, and meditative movements.

MAS AYA

Born out of an exploration of combining and colliding cultures and ideas, Mas Aya is the solo project of Toronto-based percussionist Brandon Miguel Valdivia (Not the Wind, Not the Flag, Lido Pimienta, Above Top Secret). Mas Aya takes inspiration from the daily battle scene of present day society where the Some profit from the suffering of the Many, where water, air and land are viewed as commodities to be profited from, and where ancient traditions and teachings are threatened and endangered. Mas Aya is a lively and powerful percussion, flute and voice stage show, inviting communities to cast off the shroud of commodity-based living to empower themselves and each other through music, meditation, dance and celebration

KELVIN MANSARAY

Kelvin Mansaray (Vln, Trmbn) is a displaced Black person living between Montreal and Halifax. Growing up singing in choirs and playing in orchestras across Nova Scotia, his musical practice has evolved through multi-instrumental improvisation and constant experimentation. A student of Halifax Jazz Fest's Creative Music Workshop since 2011, Kelvin visions music as acting on the fundamental creative energy that rests in all of us.

FRANK/IE CONSENT

Frank/ie Consent is a clown pop noise folk artist “based” in Atlanta. Through hyper-performativity, play, and communication with their own inner child, they have been exploring the intersections of transness, home, and social rejection... but in a FUN way. Frank/ie is an interdisciplinary artist who creates experimental music, wearable art, stories, and dances. All of these components influence each other in the creation of an experience that they hope brings support to people in their community- a healing world for QTPOC.

CHIK WHITE

chik white is a jaw harp player from Chezzetcook, Nova Scotia. His latest album, 207, is out now on Cafe Oto's Takuroku imprint.
