Eric Barbosa - Sonografias |:| Urgent Latin American Sound Art

  • Experimental Sound Studio 5925 North Ravenswood Avenue Chicago, IL, 60660 United States (map)

ESS presents a special pop-up program, Sonografias |:| Urgent Latin American Sound Art, by Brazilian artist Eric Barbosa. Sonografias integrates sound performance, collaborations, creative processes and a micro-exhibition composed of works, sound sculptures, video art and installation creations.

This expansive project is an investigative and expository expedition that derives from independent processes, but which connect as a single work. In his exhibition, the artist envisions an expanded integration of his works, installations and sound sculptures, as an element of sonic and aesthetic intersections between Brazil, Mexico and the United States from an insurgent Latin American perspective – awakening awareness of their historical, social, ancestral and contemporary cooperation from a perspective of migratory routes between the Americas.

Sonografias Project: Urgent Latin American sound art - with the artistic direction and production of Abrigo Plataforma (Brazil), Flotar (Mexico) and Harmonipan (USA). Curated by Juci Reis. Support and Territorial Articulation by Carolina Velez Muñiz and Jordan Martins. Institutional Support from the Ceará Criativo Program and the Secretaria of Culture of the State of Ceará (SECULT-CE,  Brasil).

This program is FREE and open to the public.
