Option Talks Music: Biliana Voutchkova.
Meet the violinist, composer, curator and artist Biliana Voutchkova who will discuss a creative history whose wide range of sound making includes performances at venues as diverse as Carnegie Hall in New York, to experimental and improvised music haunts including the Café Oto in London and Ausland in Berlin. About Biliana Voutchkova
Biliana Voutchkova is a dynamic and thoroughly engaged musician, interdisciplinary artist and curator with truly personal, unconventional artistic language. Through the prism of listening, her early training in classical music and the 25 years of further development as a contemporary artist-performer, she explores states of spontaneity and intuitive resonance embodied in her multifaceted activities. Her work spans the widest possible range of sound, vision, movement and includes long durational and multidisciplinary formats, improvised and composed concerts, performances and installations with focus on the sound space.
Based between Berlin and her rural residency on the black sea coast of Bulgaria, she works as a soloist and with renowned ensembles such as the Splitter Orchestra, United Berlin, Solistenensemble Kaleidoskop, Ensemble Modern, Voutchkova/ Thieke duo etc. Among her recent/current projects are solo tours in France, Colombia, Chile, USA, Australia, Japan, Korea, Taiwan, her first solo exhibition-performance at One Gallery / Sofia, the development of new non-standard formats presented live and at various digital platforms (Kaleidophon Festival, ESS Chicago / Option series, String Summit), the release of her new solo album "Seeds of Songs" on the London based label Takuroku, the premieres of "Amati Lenta" (with Olivia Block) and "Golden Delusions" for One Dance Week festival in Plovdiv 2019. Biliana is the founder and curator of the DARA String Festival and a recent recipient of the Composition Stipend from the Berliner Senate, grands from the National Culture Fund / Bulgaria, INM/Berlin, Musikfonds and the Trust for Mutual Understanding/New York.
