Helen Gillet uses an amplified cello, loop pedal, effects and vocals in her solo show. Her current solo performance explores the noise, distortion, vibration and rhythmic phasing by both extended techniques of improvisation and live looping the cello. Helen Gillet performs magical songs with her piccolo bass and singing voice. She takes the cello on a joyride with her own mix of French Chansons, Contemporary Jazz, Funk, Blues, Punk Rock, and North Indian classical styles. Gillet is a one woman musical experience and sound explorer who'll put a spell on you with compelling rhythms and delicate melodies. Born in Belgium, Gillet has made her home in New Orleans since 2003.
