Parking Access

Street parking can be found easily around ESS on streets such as W. Thorndale. There are three parking spots directly in front of ESS on Ravenswood. Please be mindful of leaving space between the building and your vehicle for passersby. On evenings and weekends, diagonal parking is available in the alley directly south of ESS. Paid parking is also available in the Metra lot directly across the street.

Behind ESS through the alley, there are also two parking spots which we are happy to reserve for anyone with accessibility needs. Please get in touch with info@ess.org to reserve a spot.

Studio Access

ESS has wheelchair seating and accessible bathrooms on both floors. Please note that once on one floor, there is no ADA-accessible path inside the building to switch between floors; you will have to exit the building and re-enter from the respective floor entrance. Our front entrance on Ravenswood leads you to our 1st floor (Audible Gallery, Studio A, Live Room), while our alley entrance leads you to the basement/garden (garden shows, Creative Audio Archive, Studio B). Wheelchair accessibility through the front entrance is via a temporary ramp.

There are ADA accessible bathrooms on both floors. On the first floor the bathroom is located in the northeast corner of Audible Gallery (front-most room). On the basement/garden level, the bathroom is past the common area, first door on the right.

To reserve accessible seating or parking, request other accommodations, or ask us any accessibility-related questions, please email info@ess.org.

Children

Generally speaking, ESS’s programs are most appropriate for high school-aged people and older. If you have a younger child who might enjoy this content, we trust your judgment in their ability to participate. If you lack access to childcare but would like to come to an event, contact Olivia at olivia@ess.org.
