Option presents Farida Amadou
Belgian based electric bass player Farida Amadou performs a solo set and discusses her work with Option curator Andrew Clinkman
“Electric bassist Farida Amadou has already performed with many of the heavy hitters from the international improvised music scene in her short career. My introduction to her work was through her association with the great English percussionist Steve Noble. It’s was quite easy for me to understand why she has been so prolific in such a short amount of time after hearing her unique approach to sound making and her level of engagement during this wonderful collaboration. We will be hearing more from Farida Amadou!” – Tim Daisy// Option Programmer
As an autodidact, Farida Amadou draws the most exciting sounds out of her Fender bass without losing sight of the musicality. In her, to date, short musical career, she makes her mark (inter)nationally in challenging collaborations with big names like Peter Brötzmann, Thurston Moore (Sonic Youth), Ken Vandermark, Mette Rasmussen, Hanne De Backer, Wolf Eyes, Audrey Lauro and Julien Desprez. Since her first encounter at the Summer Bummer Festival in 2016, she has played regularly with English drummer Steve Noble (Rip Rig & Panic, Æthenor, Saint Francis Duo) and in 2018 she was even a part of the punk-combo Cocaine Piss, from Liège. Solo tonight, in the AB Club!
