ARTIST BIO:

Gino Robair has performed and recorded with Tom Waits, Anthony Braxton, John Zorn, Nina Hagen, Terry Riley, Lou Harrison, John Butcher, Derek Bailey, Peter Kowald, Otomo Yoshihide, and the ROVA Saxophone Quartet. He is one of the "25 innovative percussionists" included in the book Percussion Profiles (SoundWorld, 2001), as well as a founding member of the Splatter Trio and Pink Mountain. His opera, I, Norton, based on the life of Norton I, Emperor of the United States, has been performed throughout North America and Europe.


CURATOR BIO:

Kyle Gregory Price is a genre-fluid composer, percussionist, and turntablist, raised in upstate New York. Following college and a decade in the punk and new music scenes on the east coast, he moved to Chicago in 2010 to expand his community and opportunities for performing and creating. He has worked with organizations including Third Coast Percussion, the Merce Cunningham Dance Troupe, and NON:op Opera. Kyle has performed at the MCA, Art Institute of Chicago, Thirsty Ears Festival and in Experimental Sound Studio’s 2018 ​Oscillations as a solo turntablist. Most recently his compositions have been heard at Access Contemporary Music’s Sound of Silent Film Festival and Sonic Walkabout. Kyle now teaches piano and composition at ACM. In 2014 he also co-founded, with Deirdre Harrison, the intergenerational literacy chamber band T​he Lucky Trikes,​ who have recorded two albums at ESS.
