Emory University's CompFest 2021: Co-Authorship in Electro-Acoustic Music concludes with a work-in-progress showing of boundarymind, an evening-length electroacoustic sound piece and aggregating installation created by Katherine Young and Linda Jankowska. In boundarymind, objects, memories, personal histories, acts of tenderness and sharing, and experiences of (dis)location sonically constellate into expansive and layered musical / performative structures. Jankowska and Young have built boundarymind’s soundworld from objects collected from their childhood homes. Sharing stories of their pasts, they explored the sound-making potential of these everyday objects. This artistic practice has proven extremely rich, creating space for introspection, social connection, relationship formation, musical experimentation, and intense listening. Tonight Jankowska and Young will present excerpts and process footage from boundarymind, including a fixed media piece with film by Kera MacKenzie, remixed sounds contributed by members of the Emory community, and a live improvisation.

Tonight's show opens with presentations of works-in-progress by Emory student composers in collaboration with student choreographers and artists: Ann Felicia Sinsuan (music) & John Huynh (art);  Hayden Hubner (choreography) & Sawyer Gray (composition & guitar) with Calvin Bruno (drums), Rachel Ofotokun (music) & Emilio Zurita Ontiveros (choreography).
