Lulling Voice features 4 musicians/duo that explore and expand the format of lullaby either simply with their voices or voices and accompanying instruments. Each lullaby in the concert is an invitation to another emotional/narrative dimension. This concert is part of A Quiet Transition, an experimental, curatorial project that adopts lullaby as a framework to create contemplative and restful experiences.

Handful of Spinch

Handful of Spinch is a collaboration project between Maya Halko and Al Williams. They work together to create improvisational ambient music layered with vocal harmonies. The experience becomes a conversation between the artists and brings out a warm and fuzzy sound. They enjoy using tape, noise, and loops to create a lulling and relaxing atmosphere. Al can be found at @dangerbitch45 on instagram, and Maya can be found at @m.aymo on instagram and Maymo on bandcamp.

Dao Strom

Dao Strom is an artist who works with three “voices”—written, sung, visual—to contemplate hybridity and the intersection of personal and collective histories. Using practices of polyvocality, fragmentation, and (re)assemblage, Strom writes arrangements of poetry, music, image, song and sound, to be experienced as performance, installation, multimedia, recordings, and inside the spaces of a book. She is the author of five books and two song-cycles, most recently Instrument (Fonograf Editions, 2020), a poetry-art collection, and its musical companion, Traveler’s Ode (Antiquated Future Records, 2020). Her work has received support from the Creative Capital Foundation, NEA, and others. Born in Vietnam, Strom grew up in northern California and lives in Portland, Oregon. She is co-founder of two collective art projects, She Who Has No Master(s), and De-Canon.

Fahad Siadat

Fahad Siadat creates interdisciplinary storytelling works, folding together words, sound, and movement into ritualistic narratives. His work is described by the press as “Exceptional” (LA Times), “hypnotic” (Backstage) and having “a sophisticated harmonic vocabulary” (San Diego Story) with “characteristic vivaciousness” (Theatre Scene). His music has been performed in Europe, China, and across the United States.

Fahad is the director of the Resonance Collective, a multifaceted organization which explores the intersections of artistic and spiritual practice, as well as the new music vocal ensemble HEX. In 2012, he founded See-A-Dot Music Publishing, a company devoted to the advocacy

of adventurous choral music. www.fahadsiadat.com

Megan Ihnen is a mezzo-soprano devoted to the commissioning, performance, and proliferation of new music. She is enthusiastic about audience development and creative placemaking which serves her well in both her performance life and as the Executive Director of the Live Music Project.
