Syntjuntan make music especially composed for textile accessories. A tangled music with lace and long stitches, embroidered with electronic sounds, square waves and curled noise.
The group will also offer one of their unique Syntjuntor—hybrid workshop/concerts. With simple tools such as a needle and thread, Syntjuntan’s workshop will teach the basics of the art of sewing synthesizers.
Hailing from Sweden, Syntjuntan is an ensemble of female musicians, composers and instrument makers formed in 2009. They appear in different configurations, sometimes in extended format with invited artists, composers, musicians and others. The group released two albums in 2012: Early Years (elektron records) and Syntjuntan (Schhh... records).
Syntjuntan's Chicago appearance is a partnership with the Sound Department of the School of the Art Institute of Chicago.
