On December 21st, the great trip odometer on the Mayan calendar flips over to a clean string of zeros, and we will enter a new b'ak'tun (a Mayan "century"—approximately 394 years), rendering the date the most epic "new year's eve" we or anyone within about a 300-year radius may ever see. To commemorate the past 394 years and to usher in whatever the next 394 have in store, ESS invites you to join us for a 12-hour drone.
DFTEOT places itself in the grand Chicago tradition of Medium, an open member drone collective (founded by Todd Carter, Brent Gutzeit, and Doug Lussenhop) that has assembled on New Year's Eves for annual 24-hour drones since 1997. With due deference, we will adopt Medium's guidelines for our event:
1: DO NOT DISTURB THE DRONE
2: ENTER & EXIT THE DRONE UNDETECTED (i.e., fade in/fade out)
3: NO DISTORTION/NOISE
4: DO NOT DISTURB THE DRONE
So grab an instrument* and join the drone or just come to listen and clear your mind! Join us for an hour or the full twelve. Libations will be available and some refreshment will be provided.
