Description

Sounds From Chicago was a series of radio programs featuring audio works by Chicago artists commissioned by ESS between 1989 and 1992. The programs ran locally on WNUR-FM, WHPK and WZRD and were distributed for national syndication through independent broadcast cassette channels.

Program 4-6: Poetry curated by Mary Hawley

Girls' Night Out: An Evening of Poetry by Six Chicago Women was designed to be an evening about significant events in women's lives. Taped before a live audience at Club Lower Links in Chicago, the program celebrates the richness and vitality of women's writing. The poetry covers topics such as love, lust, mothers and daughters, arrivals and departures, solitude and connections.
